Community Future’s Self-Employment (SE) Coordinator is a start-up specialist, supporting individuals to explore entrepreneurship and successfully start and operate their own business.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

General

The Self-Employment (SE) Coordinator is a start-up specialist, supporting individuals to explore entrepreneurship and successfully start and operate their own business.

Client-facing activities

·         Work one-on-one with clients to explore entrepreneurship and develop their business plans

·         Co-ordinate business plan workshops and provide course instruction

·         Provide ongoing business development support to SE and non-SE clients

Marketing

·         Prepare and implement marketing strategy for the SE program

·         Develop and update marketing materials as required

·         Identify and visit key contacts, attend networking activities

·         Conduct program orientation sessions and community presentations

Administration

·         Ensure SE program requirements are being met as set out by CF and funding agencies

·         Monitor and report on client progress consistent with SE program requirements

·         Conduct client monitors for SE clients and review client financial and activity reports

·         Prepare and monitor SE budgets

·         Compile and report on SE program results

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

The Self-Employment Coordinator position is a diverse multi-faceted position that requires a wide range of skills.  Accordingly, Community Futures does not expect that applicants will necessarily possess all of the qualifications and experience that define our “ideal applicant”.

Our focus in hiring will be to identify candidates with a strong mix of education and/or experience along with the attitudes and aptitudes that will support the development of an excellent SE Coordinator.

The ideal applicant will demonstrate certification and/or experience in the following areas:

·         Post-secondary education in a business-related field

·         Successfully owned and/or managed a business

·         Experience with business counseling/coaching

Computer Skills:

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.

Personal characteristics:

Hiring for this position will focus on individuals with the following demonstrated characteristics:

·         Results-oriented self-starter

·         Positive and opportunity-focused

·         Strong inter-personal and communication skills

·         Confidence in making decisions and communicating them effectively to clients

·         Ability to identify and act on key issues

·         Ability to function well in a small team environment

HOURS, SALARY AND BENEFITS:

This position can be structured as full-time, part-time or contract depending on the needs of the successful applicant.

Regular office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday.  Limited evening and weekend work is required related to events, training etc.

Salary range is $35,000 to $45,000 per annum.  The position is eligible for full benefits including: medical, dental, vision, extended health, life and disability insurance.
